A court of law is nowhere to carry out diplomacy
Joshua Landis has this to say about the Syria crisis and Saad Hariri's request for an international trial of suspects fingered by the Mehlis Report:
The Syrian regime will not come apart as Washington is hoping. That is what I believe. The Mehlis situation is a big transformation of US-Syrian relations and puts the two in a whole different territory. A court of law is nowhere to carry out diplomacy. Deals cannot be made and compromises cannot be reached once the court is assembled. And for all intents and purposes the court has been assembled. The world has been promised that the perpetrators of the Hariri murder will be punished. President Asad has not been directly implicated, but the rest of his family has been. Trying to separate him from them will require fratricide. He won't do it. He cannot do it.

The way the italic text fell I misread it as Court of Flaw, happy accident!
The MSM seem to have overlooked this is not a FINAL report and K Annan gave Mehlis and his crew of blinkered busybodies another 4 weeks intil Dec 15th.
However the Israeli / Neo -con alliance are out of the blocks faster than Carl Lewis, or as in the other lewis...Carroll....Off with his head, off with his head sentence first Trial later...
Step 1 UN Revolution, Damn mis-type Resolution.
Step 2 Bomb the shit out of Damascus.
Step 3 Israel keeps Golan heights, and access to R. Jordan. West Bank coalesces, into a string on un-non-contiguous vacant Bantustans.
You see, it's a 3 step program.
By saying “Yes” to the Iranian-made Islamic fundamentalist charter that passes for a “constitution” in Iraqi collaborationist circles, by shamelessly allying itself with the ultra-Wahhabi totalitarian regime of Riyadh (recall: Saudi Arabia is the country where 80% of the 911 killers were born and raised) to “courageously” attack the decrepit and largely weakened Syrian regime- the only secular government left in the whole Arab world, John Bolton and Dick Cheney have surely stroke mighty blows for freedom and thus contributed significantly to the “global war against terror”, a failed policy in need for a change of name...“Colonial proxy war for the advancement of Israeli fascism and Islamic fundamentalism” would be a more fitting appellation.
Hey Nur,
I'll be away for a while. But I've arranged for someone to save and send "the best of Nur"
Keep up the good work and remember to duck when the consigments of electronic Max Havelaar surgically strike your desk.
