Enduring Empire

Can someone please tell me why the $2 billion per month "biggest foreign policy blunder by the United States in the last 70 years", overstretching the military, and killing tens of thousands of innocents is now a 60-year plan for occupation as the Democrats in Congress have, overnight, disappeared from the stage?
