13.14 Najaf AYATOLLAH SISTANI DEMANDS DEPARTURE OF MILITANTS AND US TROOPS. Grand Ayatollah Ali al Sistani has demanded that Sadr militants and US troops evacuate Najaf and Kerbala.

13.06 Baghdad. ITALIAN HOSTAGES STILL ALIVE.

12.40 Baghdad. POWERFUL EXPLOSION IN CAPITAL. A powerful explosion rocked Baghdad after the funeral of IGC President Ezzedine Salim. Buildings shook throughout the city.
