15.35 Fallujah. US TROOPS ABANDON POSITIONS NORTH OF FALLUJA General Mohammed Latif has taken control of the Golan quarter of Falluja, destroyed by US bombing.

14.55 Paris. FRENCH TV SHOWS US HELICOPTER CREW GUNNING CIVILIANS. Canal Plus in France is scheduled to broadcast a video taped by US military showing a helicopter crew killing unarmed civilians who appear to present no threat. The contractors say they stole the tape from US personnel on the base where they worked and were housed.

14.39 Kirkuk. FUEL CONVOY RUNS OVER MINE. A fuel convoy headed for Kirkuk airport hit a mine, wounding several. The ensuing conflagration engulfed a US armored vehicle escorting the convoy.

13.27 Rome. ITALIAN HOSTAGES, BERLUSCONI ORDERS MEDIA BLACKOUT.

12.30 Baghdad. CASUALTIES IN THE LAST 24 HOURS. 5 Iraqi insurgents killed, 4 American troops die in road accident north of Baghdad,.

10.20 Baghdad. EXPLOSIONS HEARD NEAR ABU GHRAIB PRISON.

08.30 Baghdad. 4 IRAQI INSURGENTS KILLED by US artillery north of Baghdad

01.50 Washington. US TO MAINTAIN TROOP LEVELS IN IRAQ.
