Quote of the Day

A country which has democracy under military occupation is a reservation.

Michael Lind, Whitehead Senior Fellow, New America Foundation and Author, The American Way of Strategy (Oxford University Press, 2006)

If you have time, there is a live webcast today and tomorrow from a symposium on Terrorism, Security and America's Purpose which Juan Cole has recommended. This is the first time I have a national debate on any subject. It is series of panels composed of prestigeous US policy makers and policy analysts setting out the errors and successes of the global War on Terror (gWOT). The consensus is that the gWOT is going south through the blunders of the Bush Administration.
