Well if this doesn't shatter your image of uptight mullah-land, nothing will. Supporters of presidential candidate Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani are skating through downtown Teheran on the roller-blades campaigning for him.

And what do the opinion polls say about the upcoming Iranian presidential elections? Rafsanjani, a pragmatic conservative, is leading with 30%, ahead of Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf with 17 % of Iranians surveyed intending to vote. Behind the leaders are 3) conservative Ali Larijani, former state radio and televison president, 4) moderate cleric Mehdi Karoubi and 5)reformer Mostafa Moïn, all with between 7 % and 9 %. Three other candidates, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Mayor of Teheran, Mohsen Rezaie, ex-Commandant of the Guardians of the Revolution, and reformer Mohsen Mehralizadeh trail the pack with between 2% and 3%.
